Farm trailers are trailers or semitrailers owned by a farmer and used
primarily
for the purpose of transporting farm products to the market or for
the purpose of transporting to the farm material or items to be used on the
farm.
Farm trailers are not required to be registered in this state.
Should a farm trailer owner wish to register the trailer, an
optional
farm trailer plate is available for a fee of $6.00.
- These plates are for registration purposes only. A title is not to be
issued.
- If a serial number is stamped on the trailer, it should be used for the VIN on
the registration. Otherwise, a VIN will be assigned by the Tag Agency.
- A farm trailer license plate is to be issued, with monthly and yearly decals
expiring one (1) year form the date of registraion. Since Farm trailer
registration is optional, delinquent registration fees or penalties are
never charged.
Note: If the pulling unit is registered as a farm truck, the trailer must
be either unregistered, or registered with the optional farm trailer plate. A
farm truck may not pull a commercially registered trailer.
Additional fees will be added (insurance, mail, fax, convenience,
shipping or handling and any applicable penalties)
